Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, cream together butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until smooth.
  3. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.
  4. Stir in flour, baking soda, and salt until just blended.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips.
  6. Drop tablespoonfuls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake for 8–10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For crispier cookies, bake 1–2 minutes longer.
  • Add 1/2 cup chopped nuts for extra crunch.
